 Do you sometimes have the feeling that you are much harder on yourself than on the people you love?

Loving yourself and taking good care of yourself is sometimes not that easy. Although it sounds so easy, sometimes it can be quite difficult to take enough time for yourself and do something good for yourself. Self-love means loving all aspects of yourself and treating yourself just as well as the people you love very much. We are often willing to put ourselves at the back so that things around us are going well. We relieve them of tasks, give them gifts and listen to them. In doing so, we often forget to give ourselves the same level of care and love. 

Self-care is the way we take care of our physical, mental and emotional health. Only you can find out what helps you and makes you feel good. For some people, it's a walk in the fresh air, an intense workout, a warm bath, or a pampering beauty routine. 

If you take time for yourself and your needs, you are by no means selfish. In a world increasingly dominated by constant distraction and the presence of various stimuli, it is all the more important to switch off from time to time. This time is very important for you to reflect on situations, discard old patterns, recharge your batteries and create an environment in which you can grow and be happy.

To help you build a routine that will increase your self-love and self-care, we've collected a few ideas and practices that might help. If you like, you can integrate these practices into your everyday life over the next week. You can simply print out the document below and fill it out as you wish. 

1. Get enough sleep

Sufficient sleep is extremely important for your performance and your inner balance. Take care every night between 7 and 8 hours to sleep. There are several things that can help you feel more rested and motivated in the morning. For example, try not to use your cell phone in the last half hour before bed. Eating too late and heavy food can also be a hindrance to a healthy sleep. It often helps to do a relaxing round of yoga before bed to focus your thoughts. 

2. Eat a balanced diet

You probably know that a healthy diet is important. But that doesn't mean that from now on you have to go on some kind of diet that doesn't bring you joy. It is better to make sure that you design your diet in such a way that you do not have to do without anything and still take in all the important nutrients. It helps to integrate new habits, acquire nutritional knowledge and above all to listen to your body. Would you like a piece of chocolate in the evening? Then you shouldn't ban it either. In the end, it's the balance that counts. 

3. Make your everyday life more active

It often takes time to overcome your weaker self, but in the end we always feel better after an intensive sports session or some exercise, don't we? For example, try to schedule fixed days on which you intend to exercise for half an hour. It doesn't matter whether you like to train with weights, prefer HIITs, do a dance workout or want to do something good for your body with a yoga session. The important thing is that you have fun with it. It is important that you only set yourself goals that you can also implement in your everyday life so that you are not demotivated by failure.  4. Make yourself a small gift 

It's often the little things in life that make us happy. Think about what you would be happy about and just give yourself a present. Maybe it's fresh flowers for your next purchase or a piece of clothing that you've wanted for a long time? It doesn't have to be anything expensive or material at all. This action is mainly about the gesture. You know best what you would be happy about! 

5. Surround yourself with people who help you

Say goodbye to people who drag you down and don't stand by your side on your journey to more self-love. We often allow ourselves to be influenced far too much by negative moods in our immediate surroundings. But it is important that you become your own best friend and learn to appreciate yourself. Accept that some people may just not be as far along as you are and may not understand your decisions. There are a lot of people who are happy to support you and always have your back! 

 6. Treat yourself to a beauty day

When was the last time you really let yourself be pampered? It's often things like a new haircut, a fresh manicure or a soothing face mask that help us to feel better. Take these moments for yourself and you will find that you feel much better afterwards. Maybe you spend the beauty day together with your best friend? Positive social contacts also brighten our mood. 

7. Take time for yourself and listen to yourself

The last point is actually made up of the previous points and is the most important for the path to more self-love and self-care. In order to understand what is good for you, you have to be able to listen to yourself. This can mean that you sometimes have to cancel an appointment because you don't feel like it and would rather do something else; failing at a task and accepting it, or standing up for yourself and saying “no” when you want to say “no”. When you have managed to love yourself, your happiness, overall health and desires are paramount. Then you have realized that without self-love you will never be able to genuinely love and accept others.
